These comprehensive guides are part of our broader strategy to retain institutional memory within Peace Corps Senegal. Conservation Tillage: Methods and Background
An excellent document about conservation tillage compiled by RPCV Whitney Brim-DeForest in coordination with agriculture APCD Famara Massaly. Covers techniques for halting soil erosion, effectively utilizing mulching, and other methods of mainting healthy soil.
Field Crop Manual: Pocket Handbook
A pocket handbook for field crops created by RPCV Whitney Brim-DeForest in coordination with agriculture APCD Famara Massaly. Created to help new volunteers orient themselves to the different varieties of crops of Senegal.
Common Agricultural Pests and Diseases: Identification Guide
An excellent guide to the pests of Senegal compiled by PCV Peter Treut. Includes full color photos of pests and the damage they leave to plants. Also includes strategies for minimizing pest damage, including non-toxic pesticides.
Health Kit
A guide for Health Volunteers compiled by Health PCV's. Includes strategies for classroom and community teaching that have been developed by volunteers through the years. The Health Kit covers the top 10 illnesses/health issues affecting Senegal today.
