Sector Overview

Encouraging entrepreneurship is a core value shared by all sectors of the CED program. However, the Entrepreneurship sector of the CED program is markedly different as volunteers concentrate with school related activities and clubs. Volunteers are trained in Junior Achievement related programs, girl’s empowerment, teaching basic business and using scholarship programs that are available in country.

Volunteers in this sector work closely with teachers in a local school. In their communities, volunteers may teach English, IT and business related classes while organizing after school clubs and girls scholarship programs. Week long girl’s camps in different regions are popular among most volunteers in Senegal and are usually hosted before school begins in the fall. Volunteers in this sector often coordinate with volunteers in other sectors to host special classes on the environment or health related topics.
