Sector Overview

Senegal’s government has been making large initiatives to organize waste management activities nationwide to control the problem of waste, especially light plastics, which is slowly becoming a large problem. The Waste Management sector of the CED program seeks to work with private enterprises or government agencies that make waste management their primary goal.

Volunteers in this sector will work to help the organizations they work with implement new districts, add new waste processes, train workers and work with the community to promote organized waste disposal. As reclaiming and saving the environment is an integral part of organizing waste management, volunteers can work in schools to start environmental clubs, promote waste management in the classroom and organize clean-ups.
