Dassilamé Sérère
Dassilamé Sérère is a small village located in the Fatick region, between the villages of Toubacouta and Missirah. It is elegantly situated along the Sine-Saloum Delta where the ecological system of mangroves is abundant. The principal ethnic group is the Sérère which is also the language spoken there. The main attraction is the delta area where you can go bird watching, fish, kayak, swim, or take a boat to explore the diverse mangrove ecosystem and watch the beautiful sunsets. Dassilamé Sérère also has an eco-route that shows the history of the village. There is also a theatrical troupe that performs sketches in French that are based on Senegalese culture to help spectators better understand the traditions and customs of the local people. Frequently, the women organize drumming (Tam Tam) sessions where they dance in the traditional Sérère style. There is also wrestling, which is a Sérère tradition and always brings a large crowd. The people of Dassilamé Sérère wish you a warm welcome to their village.
